Jacksonville University MSRI

LOCATION: Jacksonville, FL

COMPLETION DATE: 2005

SQ. FT.: 17,000 sq. ft.

Located on the water’s edge of Marineland amidst virtually every coastal habitat in Florida, the University of Florida Whitney Laboratory campus houses rapidly growing educational / outreach programs for students of all ages, including undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students. The 17,000 sq. ft. Center for Marine studies houses a 300 seat auditorium, biotechnology and teaching laboratories, classrooms, and a two-story interactive/flex space overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. The new dormitories will be developed as funding becomes available. This project represents previous individual experience.

The MSRI has been certified LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Throughout the entire process, Dasher Hurst has been open to an active exchange of ideas between the various user groups.

The resulting building will serve both the University and the City of Jacksonville well as we increase our focus on the St. Johns River. I am convinced that the building is better than expected and the direct result of the talent and input of the Dasher Hurst team.
