The Forsyth Garage is a 7 level parking structure with ground level retail facing Laura, Forsyth & Main Streets.  Vystar Credit Union, having recently moved their corporate headquarters into downtown Jacksonville, made a commitment to renovate a series of buildings along Laura Street, the primary pedestrian thoroughfare in Jacksonville.  Needing parking for their staff, Vystar selected a Design/Build team of Danis Construction and Dasher Hurst Architects to design the new garage, which will also provide parking for adjacent upcoming developments and a modest amount of public parking.

The goals of the project were to construct an efficient structure that also respects the main pedestrian artery of Laura Street on the west and Main Street along the east.  Retail storefronts are designed at these primary intersections with a neutral sculptural lightweight fabric façade above, shielding view of the parking.  The long north elevation along Forsyth Street is clad in a random pattern of perforated, corrugated aluminum panels.  The primary stair tower & elevator are pulled back from the corner to maximize contiguous retail space and to allow the maximum amount of storefront at the Laura/Forsyth corner.

The entire structure is designed to be illuminated at night with a combination of blue and white led lighting to accentuate the architecture.
