These drawings were created by DHA as part of a design proposal for a new Residence Hall at Flagler College located in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, Florida. The program called for 36 four-bedroom Suites, a Commons Building and a 400 car Parking Garage. Two alternative designs were developed with different locations for the Commons Building each responding to student pedestrian accessibility and security parameters. Both options were connected and directly accessible to the new dormitory levels, however, the main commons spaces can be secured when needed without affecting dormitory circulation. In both schemes the design was based on combining the architectural vocabulary of the adjacent dormitory buildings with those of the historical Flagler Campus.
