Clay County Fire Station #11, located in Keystone Heights, contains a 3-bay apparatus garage for firefighting and emergency vehicles. The narrow site allows vehicular access only from the front and rear, requiring the program to be stacked into a two-story structure with the bunk room, locker rooms, and other private spaces on the upper level with the day room, exercise, and dispatch on the first level.
The design was intended to express a sense of permanence appropriate for a public structure, while also maintaining an appropriate budget for a public structure. The building is built using split faced CMU and metal siding in a neutral gray palette with fire engine red accents on entry canopies.
