City of Jacksonville Fire Station 74

LOCATION: eTown, Jacksonville

COMPLETION DATE: Anticipated Summer 2022

SQ. FT.: 9,500

eTown is a new master planned community on Jacksonville’s south side, with the goal of appealing to a young demographic who favor a more energetic, modern approach to design and architecture and representing a more entrepreneurial spirit typical of this generation.  As such, the neighborhood developer, the Parc Group, hired Dasher Hurst Architects to help them build a new fire station that suited the character of this new neighborhood rather than the typical city prototype.

The floor plan of this new 9,500 sf fire station was designed loosely on the approved prototypical plan but modified in a manner that allowed for a more expressive architectural approach.  The building has three apparatus bays with state of the art four-fold apparatus bay doors which allow for quick open-close response and anticipated lower maintenance costs compared to conventional overhead doors.  The materials of the building are conventional (split faced CMU, stucco, and aluminum storefronts) and low maintenance, critical for a public safety building that is maintained by the firefighters.

The building is currently under construction with Auld & White Constructors and is anticipated to be complete in summer of 2022.
