The new Jacksonville University Marine Science Research Institute was designed to be an integral part of  Jacksonville University’s mission to provide outstanding teaching and high-quality research opportunities for students, faculty and other researchers on issues related to the St. Johns River and the aquatic environments. The first floor is almost entirely open air lab areas and operational storage with the enclosed second floor housing offices, labs, classrooms and an outdoor terrace overlooking the river. The MSRI has been certified LEED® Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.
