Just in time for the Memorial Day crowds, the new restroom facility at 2nd Avenue North in Jacksonville Beach was opened on May 26th.  Designed as part of a comprehensive masterplan for the City’s public spaces and streetscape, this facility replaces an older structure where 2nd Avenue meets the ocean walk.  It is a 400 s.f. structure with 6 public toilets and is designed to withstand the harsh environmental conditions of the site while encouraging natural ventilation.  Dasher Hurst Architects worked in conjuction with GAI Engineering, the group responsible for the engineering of the larger masterplanning effort.
